To Take the Blame
(Isaiah 53)
He had no outward beauty to draw us to him
Nothing in the way he looked would clue us in
He was despised and rejected by men
A man of sorrows and we turned away from him
Surely He took up our sorrows and pain
Yet we considered him deserving of the shame
He was pierced for our sin he was our shield
And by his stripes and wounds we are healed
Every one of us is to blame for nailing hands that carried our shame
If you and I were there we would have done the same
For every one of us nailed him to the cross
He was God's plan for us
To take the blame
All of us like sheep have gone astray
Each of us has turned to go his own way
But the Lord laid our iniquity on him
He paid the price so we could enter in
Every one of us is to blame for nailing hands that carried our shame
If you and I were there we would have done the same
For every one of us nailed him to the cross
He was God's plan for us
To take the blame
